Promising First Outing

This is such an impressive first "big box" style board game from CR. Played this half a dozen times in the first two days after receiving and loved learning all the princesses and gameplay styles. For a first big production it stands head and shoulders above many other games of a similar style. With that being said, some errata clarifications or maybe a second edition printing down the line to tighten up gameplay would be nice. While there are tons of variations each game/deck can have, things can begin to feel "same-y" or like there is a clear "optimal path" in games for certain princesses. At a certain point it begins to feel like there are only 2-4 cards in each bazar deck worth picking and then its just investing in the same 2-6 cards from your vault. This is from a mostly 2 person playing experience, but I don't imagine it changing all that much with multiple people. Would really love to see new princesses developed or more game-changing mechanics in the future. All-in all though: solid game, beautiful components, excellent vibe/feel, and fun quick and simple set-up and gameplay. Highly recommend!

Played this game last weekend and it’s quite fun. Each character feels unique and the game feels like it encourages role play. It seems quite complicated at first, but after a few rounds even the more casual players had a grasp of how to play. All in all I look forward to playing it again soon

Great game, broken box

The game itself is very fun, it’s a game that seems complicated but after a few rounds, starts to make sense. My issue is that the box was damaged in shipping, a large hole is in the back of the box. And one of the clock tower faces that signifies the rounds is completely busted. While not necessarily Critical Role’s fault, the wood they use to put it together is pretty cheap.

Unbalanced

The game is AMAZING but feels like it isn't balanced very well, some characters have shortcomings the size of a mountain leaving them hard to play and the bazaar is almost useless maybe a card or 2 popping up for a character through all 12 rounds, and lastly I wish it had a co op mode (like 2v2) because in my homebrew testing this helps the game feel substantially more complete. But overall the game really is amazing. Fun to play and creative in it's thinking. A couple errata touch-ups and an expansion or 2 and this game will be one of the best out there ever. For now it just sits pretty high on the good purchases list!
